Welcome!

U.C. Berkeley Green Bike Share 2009

WELCOME Back Spring 2009!

Week 3: Ok, so who’s looking for excuses to avoid homework and reading, especially with this seasonally-confused weather? Well, the Green Bike Share is here to aid you in any endeavors to procrastinate and to expand your mind. That is, we will be hosting Saturday afternoon bike rides so that you can familiarize yourself with our surrounding community and so that you can get comfortable riding the streets of Berkeley aboard a bicycle. This month we will be peacefully gliding to the Berkeley Marina and Caesar Chavez Park on February 21st. Meet up with the group at 4 pm on Upper Sproul, and don’t forget your bike, your helmet, edible goodies for sunset gazing, and liquid thirst quenchers. The sun should be dipping below the horizon at approximately 5:54 pm, so come ready to lap up the pinks and purples of our wonderful evening city scape.

Also note that we are now hosting maintenance workshops on Wednesdays on Upper Sproul, in which you can bring your bike and learn efficient repair techniques. Furthermore, we will have 2-3 weekend bikes available for checkout on Fridays from 11 am to 2 pm on Upper Sproul and we are expanding the Green Bike Share to specific buildings on campus. (Email greenbikeshare@gmail.com for more information).

To close this week’s blog, we would like to cordially invite you to attend UC Berkeley’s PlayGreen Festival in Pauley Ballroom on February 20th. We will be hosting a booth with raffle prizes, safety information, and maintenance advice and we’d love for you to stop by!

Well, until next week, wear your helmet, stay out of traffic, and ride like a shredder!

If you would like to get involved with the Green Bike Share at UC Berkeley, attend our weekly Thursday meeting at 6:30 pm in the Martin Luther King Jr. Building in Heller Lounge (aka the Multicultural Center aka our Student Union). Hope to meet you and talk about bicycling very soon…
